Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: The Barrientos Scholarship Foundation's Student Success Program

The Barrientos Scholarship Foundation (BSF) continues its mission of fostering educational and career success by introducing its new Student Success Program. Through partnerships with key business leaders and professionals, the program is designed to provide students with the guidance, networks and personal experiences they need to thrive both academically and in their future careers.

The concept of "community triage" is central to the program. By fostering a supportive and fun environment, BSF ensures that students can plug into networks that offer growth, collaboration, and success opportunities. From mentorship to internships, the program's step-by-step processes provide both practical support and financial aid, ensuring students stay on track for graduation and beyond.

With a Latino population growing by 3.1% and organizations like BSF, Casa de la Cultura, and the Latino Economic Development Council (LEDC) working together, the foundation is poised to help retain and support more professional, educated, and philanthropic Latino leaders.

“There is a significant opportunity here in Nebraska. Many people recognize our challenges, but if we unite to create bridges to the incredible programs available, we can easily achieve a win-win for our state,” said Board President of BSF, Tony Aguilera.

BSF recognizes the challenges faced by many first-generation college students. As pioneers in their families, these students often lack the support systems and templates for navigating higher education and professional careers. The Student Success Program aims to fill this gap by acting as a "second-generation college and career template," offering mentorship, resources, and a clear pathway for success.

By equipping students with the tools and networks they need, BSF ensures that Nebraska’s future workforce is diverse, skilled and ready to lead.
