BSF Reflects on a Year of Milestones and Invites Community to Give Back This Giving Tuesday
Dear BSF Friends, Family, and Community,
As we approach the season of gratitude and giving, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible year we’ve had at the Barrientos Scholarship Foundation (BSF) and thank you for being an essential part of our journey.
Since its founding in 2004, the BSF has raised over $335,000 for Latino high school and college students in Greater Omaha. We are incredibly thankful for our generous sponsors, who have supported our students over the years; we could not assist as many motivated, talented students without them.
This year, we continue celebrating remarkable milestones that exemplify the power of community and shared purpose. Through our key initiatives in financial support, mentorship, and community engagement, we had the honor of fostering students to excel in higher learning and their career aspirations.
A look back at 2024:

Scholarship at Casa de la Cultura’s Las Posadas: Originally a $500 award, the scholarship amount was generously increased to $600 thanks to a $100 contribution from Diego Martinez and will be presented at the community event. BSF will award the scholarship at the Las Posadas event hosted by our parent company, Casa de la Cultura.
We are filled with gratitude and endlessly thank all of our sponsors, board members, scholars, friends and family for making 2024 an incredible year and equipping students with the tools and networks to be ready to lead in their workforce.
I invite you to join us in making an even greater impact through Giving Tuesday on December 3. Giving Tuesday is the Omaha metro area’s largest local giving day of the year. Held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, this global event is dedicated to giving back and supporting local community nonprofits.
Your generosity will directly support our mission of opening doors to opportunity and building the next generation of leaders in our community.
On behalf of our board, our scholars, and the entire BSF family, thank you for believing in the power of education and community. Your support changes lives and uplifts futures. Together, we can continue to keep the dream alive.
With deepest gratitude,
Anthony Aguilera
President, Barrientos Scholarship Foundation
